‘Island Hopping’ is a laid-back instrumental replete with ukelele backing that reflects a Polynesian vibe. The ending suggests a shift towards the Indian Ocean.

Count Me Out to be played on PBS Ports of Paradise PBS 106.7 Friday 2 March 2018 9am-11am

Paddy Harrisson who hosts the show Ports of Paradise on PBS 106.7 played the tune ‘Count Me Out’ by Another Story on his 2-hour radio show.

Ports of Paradise presents a midcentury melting pot of sophisticated sounds from the golden age of exotica … including jungle jazz, tribal percussion, Latin rhythms, early Calypso, cocktail lounge, stereophonic showpieces, space-age symphonies, and tropical island swing.

Count Me Out is from the CD Cinematic Sea by Another Story. It is a jazzy, quirky tune written in 5/4 time that was a failed entry into a short film music competition. There are not too many popular tunes written in 5/4, e.g., Dave Brubeck’s Take Five, Living in the Past by Jethro Tull and the original Mission Impossible theme by Lalo Schifrin. A download of Count Me Out can be purchased from https://itunes.apple.com/us/album/cinematic-sea/1278842925

There are many interesting and different shifts in the tune – backwards guitar, musique concrete and then at the very end a swinging 1960s London groove a la Austin Powers meets Georgie Fame.
